Abstract
We describe the establishment of the Climate Change Center of Saudi Arabia and its scientific mission of understanding and predicting the distinct climate of the Arabian Peninsula. The center brings together regional and international expertise around high-resolution coupled atmosphere–ocean–land modeling, observational networks, downscaling and bias-correction frameworks, and impacts assessment for water, energy, and ecosystems. We outline the underlying modeling infrastructure, the data assimilation and prediction systems being deployed, and the priority science questions — from dust and heat extremes to monsoon onset, Red Sea circulation, and sea-level rise — that the center will address in its first phase of operations.
